Training

Find Your Way to Training options that may be specific to people with disability, for people who may be working with people with disability. or for parents and carers of people with disability.

The focus in this Training section is to provide information and resources for families to access training that is essential for survival, i.e. First Aid or Epilepsy training as well as for improving the capacity of the community to support inclusion and participation outcomes for people with disability.

Disability Career

A career in the Disability sector is a great way to discover several career options while fulfilling a necessary and rewarding role, helping people with a disability live their lives to the fullest making a significant contribution to the wellbeing and quality of life for people with disability.

Training can be undertaken in a variety of ways including online or classroom setting, training consists of a combination of practical and theoretical work.

There are many entry points into the disability sector and some roles require no previous qualifications.

Qualifications range from Certificate I to Masters and Doctorates in Both Community Services and Disability.

Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing, Home and Community)

Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing, Home and Community) reflects the role of workers in the community and/or residential setting who follow an individualised plan to provide person-centred support to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or some other reason. Workers have a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge, as well as some theoretical knowledge of the concepts and practices required to provide person-centred support.

Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability)

Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) reflects the role of workers in the community and/or residential setting who follow an individualised plan to provide person-centred support to people who may require support due to, disability, ageing or some other reason. Workers have a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge, as well as some theoretical knowledge of the concepts and practices required to provide person-centred support.

Certificate IV in Disability

Certificate IV in Disability is part of the Community Services Training Package. It addresses work in residential group homes, training resource centres, Community access services, Respite centres and open employment services, other community settings and clients’ homes.   This course will equip you to provide a higher level of support and facilitation of services to people with disabilities to enhance their ability to achieve greater levels of independence and community participation.

Diploma of Disability

The Diploma of Disability prepares employees to coordinate and control the delivery of services by staff and outside agencies to people with a disability.

Advanced Diploma – for workers providing specialist services, resources to other workers, professional supervision of staff and volunteers
