Mentors, Peers and Jobs
Parents and Carers have a broad range of skills and expertise yet often report that they are not able to Find flexible employment arrangements, or local direct care support for their family member with disability when or where they require it.
There are many possible solutions to resolving these issues and this section of the Finding Your way website promotes an initiative that recognises the value of building strong links between parents and carers and businesses and community organisations.
By completing the registration form/s Parents and Carers can register in one or more sections. Registrations are automatically sent to the ACD Finding Your Way consultant for actioning. Only unidentifiable information of those registering is displayed on FYW. Where consent is provided during the registration process, those seeking parent and carer, mentors, employees or in-kind supports should contact the Finding Your Way consultant for further information.
Click on the finding pages to see if there are parents and cares registered near you. Together and as more users access this section of the site we’ll keep you informed about this initiatives progress.
In the event of site users making contact with Finding Your Way registered parents and carers, the absolute responsibility for any arrangements made from that point belongs to the potential Business Employers and/or Parents and Carers. This section of the Finding Your Way website is intended only to provide a central place for parents and carers to register and for others to Find them.
ACD in registering a person on the Finding Your Way site has received, their agreement that they are a carer of a person with disability, some basic work experience, skill and education detail and consent to register them on the site.
ACD strongly recommends that businesses, organisations and parents and carers have thorough recruitment and validation processes in place to scrutinize potential employees or people providing in-kind support.
Registered parents and carers will be removed from the site immediately at their request.
ACD reserves the right to remove registered persons who have provided misleading or false information or who have a criminal history.
