Winter dose of COVID-19 vaccine now available for over 30s in Tasmania

People aged 30 and over can now receive a fourth dose (or winter dose) of COVID-19 vaccine in Tasmania.

Atagi made the recommendation on 7 July 2022. The dose is available three months after the first booster, is recommended for people aged 50-64, while those aged 30-49 can receive it, although the benefit for this age group is ‘less certain.’

People aged 65 years and older, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders aged 50 and over, immuno-compromised people 16 and over and those in aged or disability care facilities are still considered higher risk groups and are advised to have a winter dose.

People with disability aged 16 and over who have significant or complex health needs can also receive a winter dose. See more about who can receive the fourth dose on the Tasmanian Government’s Coronavirus website’s Who can get a vaccine page.

Flu shots can be given at the same time as the winter dose.
