ABC Heywire is taking over the Tamar Valley! Join in to celebrate and share in the most memorable week of youth stories and ideas.
Heywire Tamar Valley is an exciting storytelling and leadership program run by the ABC. They’ve worked with over 10 local schools across the local government areas of Launceston, George Town and West Tamar. The voices of hundreds of young people have been heard, and we’re supporting them as they share what’s important.

Red Carpet Premiere
The world premiere of real-life stories from the young people across the Tamar Valley!
Date: Tuesday 22 September 2026
Time: Arrive from 5:30pm for a 6:15pm start (approximate end time 8:00pm).
Venue: Launceston Conference Centre, 50 Glen Dhu St, Launceston
Youth Ideas Festival
The Heywire winners share their big ideas to improve the lives of the young people in the Tamar Valley.
Following the ideas presentation, we invite you to be a part of our ideas fair. Here you can connect with local community groups, share resources and learn more about your community.
Expect games, networking and a whole lot more!
