ACD Tas is excited to announce that they have again partnered with Hobart Airport to offer aircraft familiarisation tours for people with disability. These tours will be available throughout 2026, providing participants with a hands-on experience navigating the airport and boarding an aircraft.
- About the tours
ACD Tas works with and learns from thousands of Tasmanian families each year who are experiencing issues accessing and engaging with services and systems. Hobart Airport acknowledges the challenges faced by people with disability and travel and is working closely with ACD Tas, Virgin Australia and Swissport to provide familiarisation tours. These tours aim to provide an opportunity for a real-life experience of the processes and environment of travelling through the airport and boarding a plane.
- When
The tours are run four times a year before the Tasmanian school holidays, in February, May, August & November 2026.
- What is included in the tour?
9:00 am – Arrival at Hobart Airport terminal and Visitor Identification Card (VIC)
9:15 am – Check in through Virgin Australia Check-in
9:30 am – Go through the security screening, find your gate
10:05 am – Boarding the plane, finding your seat
10:20 am – Disembarking the plane, moving through to the arrivals hall
