ARE YOU OR DO YOU LIVE WITH A PERSON LIVING WITH DISABILITY IN TASMANIA? What does an emergency plan look like when you have additional needs?
Libraries in the south of Tasmania are hosting free workshops to help people with disability, carers and support people to prepare for emergencies.
The workshops use a person-centred approach and are presented by Richard Witbreuk. Richard is an Emergency Preparedness Facilitator with the State Emergency Service and has lived experience with disability.
You’ll learn about:
– Considerations for people with disability in emergencies, including assistive technology, communication and transport
– Identifying and understanding hazards
– Finding reliable information sources
– Developing a personalised emergency plan.
The workshops are run by Tasmania SES in partnership with ParaQuad Association of Tasmania Inc.
