News
You may have heard that the date has been set for the upcoming federal election: 3 May.
It’s important to ensure that everyone can participate in the electoral process. The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) offers assistance to people with disability to help them fully engage in voting.
The AEC can assist with:
๐โโ๏ธ Enrolling to vote
๐โโ๏ธ Voting procedures
๐โโ๏ธ Providing information and support
Thanks to advocacy by the Disability Advisory Committee, the AEC has recently updated the Commonwealth Electoral Act.
These changes modernise the language and expand eligibility for postal and pre-poll voting to include people with disability and their carers. For more information on voting assistance for people with disability or mobility restrictions, visit the Australian Electoral Commission’s Accessibility page.
