Happy Paws Happy Hearts (HPHH) program is expanding!

Happy Paws Happy Hearts (HPHH) is expanding!

Working with Dogs’ Homes of Tasmania means they can provide even more opportunities for life-changing programs at HPHH forging positive connections between people and the shelter dogs at Dogs’ Homes.

Happy Paws Happy Hearts isn’t just about spending time with animals. The mission is to provide a pathway from social isolation to social inclusion by providing meaningful outcomes, including:

  • Improved psychological well-being through building confidence and reducing isolation
  • Increased independence by developing life management skills
  • Enhanced social connections with peers and the wider community
  • Development of vocational skills for participants who would like to consider pathways into volunteering, further education, or employment.

Each session includes hands-on learning about animal behaviour, care, and enrichment. Participants build their skills while making a real difference in the lives of rescue animals, helping them become more adoptable and ready to find their forever homes.

You can find out more about their program’s design and outcomes through their Theory of Change model, or chat with the friendly enrolments team about the programs on offer, designed to foster social connections, build confidence and promote psychological well-being through hands-on activities with the dogs.  Please note this is not an animal therapy program.

The programs offer more than just fun animal interactions – they create lasting change!

While we continue to operate at the wonderful location with Ten Lives Cat Centre, this expansion allows participants to now interact with the wagging tails of puppies and dogs in need of socialisation, training, and care as they wait for their forever homes.

They welcome participants 12+ years, who access NDIS, SLES, and other disability services or are self-funded.
