Heywire Calls for Young Regional Australians to Share Their Stories

The ABC’s Heywire storytelling competition is inviting young people aged 16 to 22 from regional, rural and remote Australia to share their lived experiences and perspectives.

Heywire encourages participants to tell a true story about an aspect of their life, with entries accepted in a variety of formats, including written, video or audio submissions. The competition provides young people with a platform to have their voices heard and their stories shared with audiences across Australia.

Entries for the 2027 Heywire Competition are now open and will close on 1 September 2026.

Young storytellers can submit their entries through the online application form and are encouraged to choose the format that best suits their story and style.

Anyone seeking more information or support with the application process can contact the Heywire team at abcheywire@abc.net.au.

For more information or to enter, visit the Heywire website and submit a story before the closing date.
