It’s heartening to see members of ACD Tas being recognized for their invaluable work in the “Grandparents Raising Grandchildren” program in Devonport. Recently, Deb, who leads the program, had the opportunity to speak at the Rotary Club of Devonport North. Her presentation opened the eyes of the attendees to the incredible strength and resilience of these often-overlooked heroes—grandparents who are stepping up when it matters most.
These grandparents face a multitude of challenges, from managing school runs and legal obstacles to navigating the complexities of modern technology and grappling with financial pressures. Yet, they persevere, embodying the belief that family always comes first.
ACD Tas currently supports over 20 families on the North West Coast, but it’s clear that many more grandparents are facing these challenges in isolation. If you know a grandparent who is supporting their grandchildren or if you’d like to get involved and offer your support, please reach out to ACD Tas.
