Welcome to the Finding Your Way website.

Finding Your Way is a community development innovation of The Association for Children with Disability Tasmania, better known as A.C.D.

Finding Your Way first went live in website form in November 2015. It was developed in collaboration with University of Tasmania students from the School of Engineering and Information and Communications Technology

Finding Your Way got off the ground with financial support from Aurora Energy, The Cornelia de Lange Foundation, the Hobart Port Club, the Archbishop of Hobart’s charitable foundation- The Samaritans Project, and A.C.D. Members.

The 2015 Mission for Finding Your Way set the scene, bringing the Tasmanian community together, to assist people with disability and their families in this beautiful State, to have equal opportunity to live their lives to the full.

In 2018, Finding Your Way looked to continue to develop. The Australian Digital Inclusion Index reported, an increasing use of internet and technology by Australians for interacting with services and systems, and growing exclusion for some groups (including people with disability), and particularly those with low levels of education, employment and income.

Funding for resource development from the Australian Government Department of Social Services, and support from the Tasmanian Government through Communities Tasmania, led A.C.D. to join forces with SpeakOut Advocacy, Handbuilt Creative, and CommuniCloud, on the next stage development of Finding Your Way.

The resulting website, we believe, a world first all abilities community resource.

There is much work to do. Content is being written, reviewed and loaded daily. The Finding Your Way writers and reviewers collective is growing rapidly. It is made up of individuals, community organisations, and corporate and government representatives, who are willing to share their insights and expert knowledge of mainstream services and systems. The collective believes that sharing knowledge is essential for assisting Tasmanian’s with disability, and their parents and carers to realise equal opportunity.

The 2019 Finding Your Way Mission is underway.

Together we aim to influence a socially inclusive society through the design, development and provision of exceptional information and technology.
