 Quick Summary

There are a number of access friendly parks in Tasmania. The Tasmanian Parks and Wildlife Service are committed to providing facilities that are accessible to people with disability. As well as wheelchair-accessible walking tracks, they also have equipment available to hire such as all-terrain wheelchairs and beach wheelchairs. These are only available in specific National Parks and need to be booked in advance. There are some inclusive playgrounds in Tasmania, with facilities suitable for everyone to play regardless of ability. Wheelchair swings (or Liberty Swings) are available in a few of Tasmania’s playgrounds, but a truly inclusive playground features a range of experiences and equipment that is accessible to all, enabling children to play together. Burnie Swing Park, Riverbend Park in Launceston, Dru Point Bicentennial Park in Margate, Bellerive Beach Park and Kingston Park Playground are some of the parks in Tasmania that offer all inclusive play facilities for people of all abilities to enjoy.
