Apprenticeships and traineeships
Quick Summary
Apprenticeships and traineeships are employment-based training arrangements where an apprentice or trainee can combine employment with training. An apprentice or trainee is a person who is paid for a fixed period of time while they learn a trade from a skilled employer. Apprenticeships and traineeships can be full-time, part-time or school-based. When you have completed an apprenticeship or traineeship, you will have a nationally recognised qualification and skills for your chosen profession. There are over 500 types of apprenticeships and traineeships to choose from in Australia. In Tasmania, an apprenticeship usually takes up to 4 years to complete. Traineeships take 1 to 2 years. If you have disability or mental illness, there is extra assistance available to support you to reach your employment potential.
