Workplace health and safety

 Quick Summary

Workers in Australia have rights and responsibilities to do with health and safety in their workplace. They are covered by laws which apply to all workplaces. Workers have a right to a safe, fair and just workplace. They also have the right to speak up about work conditions or to refuse to do work that is unsafe. Workers have the right to be shown how to work safely, and to be given appropriate safety or protective equipment. Responsibilities of the worker include taking reasonable care, not doing anything that may affect the health and safety of others at work, and following all health and safety instructions your employer gives you. Most workplaces have health and safety representatives that you can approach if you have any questions or concerns.
