Respite
Quick Summary
Caring for someone can be challenging and sometimes it helps to have a break. Respite care means that someone else takes care of the person you care for, so that you can take some time out for yourself. Sometimes, family and friends can provide respite care, and respite services are also available. Respite can be provided for short periods or for a number of days, and can take place at home, in a short term accommodation facility or in a residential facility. Emergency respite care services are also available if you are suddenly unable to provide care, for example if you fall ill or are injured.
