Assessing and identifying needs
Caring for people with disabilities can sometimes be challenging. Some of these challenges are predictable and can be planned for, with the help of services and support networks. Sometimes, challenges happen unexpectedly, and they can happen quickly. Illness or changes in health, changes in the family, death and divorce, are all very stressful and working out solutions can be complicated. Carers may have to make legal, financial, medical or lifestyle decisions for the person they care for. Planning in advance can make difficult choices easier. Being able to access the right support quickly when circumstances change is very important for people with disabilities, their families and carers.
